Cervical Uterine Factors Fibroids

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop within the uterus and can affect reproductive health. These growths can range in size from small, pea-sized tumors to large, bulky masses that can cause significant discomfort and health issues.

What Causes Fibroids?

The exact cause of fibroids are unknown, but they are thought to be related to hormonal imbalances and genetic factors. Women who have high levels of estrogen or progesterone are more likely to develop fibroids, as are those with a family history of the condition.

What are the Symptoms of Fibroids?

Fibroids can cause a range of symptoms, including heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain and pressure, and frequent urination. In some cases, fibroids may cause infertility or pregnancy complications.

How are Fibroids Diagnosed?

Fibroids can be diagnosed through a physical exam, pelvic ultrasound, or MRI. Our doctor may also perform a biopsy of the growth to determine if it is a fibroid.

How are Fibroids Treated?

The treatment of fibroids will depend on the size, location, and severity of the growth, as well as the symptoms it is causing. In some cases, medication or a minimally invasive procedure may be recommended. In other cases, surgery to remove the fibroid may be necessary.
