1. Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
Time to test – Day 3
6: Excellent
6-9: Good
10-13: Diminished reserve
13+: Very hard to stimulate
- For PCOS, your specialist may use the ratio of LH: FSH for diagnosis.
- The normal ratio is 1:1, but if the LH is higher, it can be a sign of PCOS.
2. Estradiol
Time to test – Day 3
Normal Range: 25-75 pg/ml
- If the levels are low, it is believed that they are better for stimulation
- If the levels are extremely high on day 3, it is a sign of the presence of a functional cyst or a diminished ovarian reserve.
Time to test – Day 4-5 after taking medicines
- There are no normal levels during this time as during the stimulations the number can vary greatly as it depends on the number of follicles that are created, and it also depends on their size.
- Usually, if the levels are high, most doctors look at it as a positive sign.
Time to test – Surge/hCG day
Range – 200+ Pg/ml
- As the follicles become mature, the levels must range in between 200-600, per mature follicle.
- Sometimes, in obese or overweight women, these levels are lower in number
3. Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
Time to test – Day 3
Normal Range <7mlU/ml
- Normal LH levels are very similar to the FSH levels
- If the LH is higher than the FSH levels, it may be one of the signs of PCOS
Time to test – Surge day – It is greater than the normal range
- After the LH surge, in 48 hours, ovulation occurs.
